Écrin Privacy
Your data.
Your decisions.
What stays on your device. What can be backed up or shared. And the choices that belong to you.
Policy updated on 26 September 2026
01
App publisher
Écrin is published by Régis Porte under the OS Studio name. For questions about your data or this policy, contact the studio.
02
Your space, your choices
Écrin does not require an OS Studio account. The app does not sell your data, show advertising or track your activity across apps or websites. Optional online features use Apple services.
03
Data on your device
Écrin processes the photos, videos, documents and notes you choose to add, along with their available metadata. This information is used to display, organise, search, protect, import and export your content.
The app also stores preferences, album and folder organisation, and information needed to protect access. Display previews do not replace the original files retained.
When enabled, the decoy space and access attempt history help protect your privacy. They are not used to create an advertising profile.
04
Permissions
Permissions relate to the features you use: selecting photos, taking a photo, recording video with sound or accessing a chosen file. Manage them in your device settings.
Écrin does not scan your photo library to build a profile or send its content to OS Studio. Access requests and options depend on Apple’s system pickers and permissions.
05
Backups and sync
Backups are encrypted on your device. You choose their protection and locations: a copy within the app’s data on the device, a copy in your own iCloud, or both.
With automatic backup enabled, changes trigger updates to selected locations. The app distinguishes a local copy from a confirmed iCloud transfer. iCloud services also let you recover the same Écrin space on compatible devices.
iCloud services are optional and included in Premium and Family. Apple handles storage and transfer, depending on your account, connection, available space and system. OS Studio does not host your content or receive a readable version.
06
Shared albums
Sharing features let you choose albums and authorised participants. Content is encrypted before transfer; private invitations use Apple’s CloudKit services.
Authorised participants can access shared items according to their permissions. Your other content remains private. Family Sharing of a subscription does not automatically share albums, documents or notes.
Apple processes the information needed for invitations, participants, sync and storage under its terms. OS Studio does not use it for advertising.
07
Exporting your content
Export your content as a ZIP to a location you choose, with or without a password. Exports preserve originals, available metadata and any additional descriptive information needed.
An export without a password contains files readable by anyone with access. Exported copies are no longer protected by the app lock. Their retention depends on where you store them and whom you share them with.
08
Purchases and subscriptions
Apple manages purchases through the App Store. Écrin receives information needed to determine feature access: purchased product, validity and Family Sharing. OS Studio does not receive your banking details.
09
Protection and diagnostics
Écrin uses encryption, a passcode lock and, when enabled on a compatible device, biometrics. Protection also depends on your device security, recovery secrets and Apple Account.
Écrin contains no advertising tracker or third-party analytics service. Apple may transmit diagnostics according to the sharing choices in your device settings.
10
Retention and deletion
Manage deletion of content and backups in the app. Turning off a backup location stops automatic updates without deleting existing copies.
The device copy stays within Écrin’s local app data. It does not protect against device loss or deletion of app data. iCloud backups and exports are separate copies: deleting local content does not remove every earlier copy.
After expiry, your personal files are retained. You can always open Écrin, export them and delete them without a subscription or time limit. Viewing content and using paid features require an active subscription. Your shared albums become private, and you leave received shares when a connection allows access rights to be updated. Renewing does not automatically restore sharing.
11
Your choices and rights
View, export and delete your content in the app, manage device permissions and choose which online services to enable. Contact OS Studio for requests about your data.
OS Studio does not know your protection secrets and cannot decrypt your space for you.
12
Users under age
Écrin is a general-purpose app, not specifically intended for children. It does not create a public profile or display targeted advertising.
